Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Mechanical System Engineer and or Mechanical Engineer. This position will be located at our Space Systems Sector in Dulles, VA.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Tactical System.
The Mechanical Systems Engineer will work on all Spacecraft Structures and Payload mechanical hardware from requirements all the way through integration and test. The candidate will perform detailed design tasks using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other software tools to develop and document designs for manufacturing and ultimately assembly into spacecraft. The role involves interfacing and communicating with customers, program and functional management, other spacecraft engineering disciplines, and component suppliers. The candidate will develop test plans and procedures and support structural testing at the component and spacecraft levels. Will also perform cost and schedule planning for projects and proposals. Skills include, but not limited to, Computer Aided Design (CAD), knowledge of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T), 3D Printing, Design for Manufacturing, and Mechanics of Metallic and Composite Materials.
Basic Qualifications for an Associate Mechanical Engineer:
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
• Be completing or has completed their Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
• Be majoring in or having majored in a Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.7 out of 4.0 or higher
Basic Qualifications for Mechanical Engineer:
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
• Be completing or has completed their master's Degree from an accredited institution.
• Be majoring in or having majored in a Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.7 out of 4.0 or higher
Salary Range:
Associate Engineer:67,400.00 - 101,000.00
Engineer: 81,300.00 - 121,900.00
