The Associate Director, Incentive Compensation and Alignments supports the Boehringer Ingelheim US Animal Health business by developing and managing daily incentive program operations for field sales teams.  The individual will act as a strategic partner to the business and support the development of fair sales incentives that motivate, and drive behaviors aligned to business's strategic objectives for strong company outcomes.  The individual will need to be a subject matter expert in incentive plan designs, goal setting, analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of programs, partner with field force alignment lead for crediting rule accuracy, and accountable to work with the Incentive Compensation and Alignment team to meet all incentive administration processing schedule deadlines.      
The Associate Director will be expected to identify potential cross team process opportunities which will increase efficiencies and accuracy across the business. The role will be responsible for both written and verbal communications to the business and customers which will be customized to the recipient.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales incentives and excellent analytical skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sales incentive programs that can be properly administered within established platforms/systems 
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, or performance anomalies that need evaluated and solutioned cross functionally within Commercial Excellence and/or field leadership 
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to align incentive strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of incentive programs, making adjustments as needed.
  • Provide regular reports or presentations with insights to senior management on the performance of incentive programs.
  • Ensure programs are operating within established Terms and Conditions that govern Sales Incentive Compensation plans.

Internal Control & Audit / Integrity, Delivery & Protect

  • Ensures adherence to risk control checklists, provides coordination and assistance for audits as they are performed.
  • Serve as a testing lead for Incentive reporting platform and Alignment software including new enhancements and regression testing. Conduct strategy testing, including set up, filters, components, verify all calculations and special conditions.

Continuous Improvement / Delivery & Seek

  • Provides root cause analysis for issues that arise within the full end-to-end process from goals and achievements to payment execution.
  • Create, document and ensure that internal controls are in place at all critical points in the process.
  • Continually look for and propose process improvements.

The job holder will actively collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to ensure the Incentive Compensation functions processes and policies are well understood to efficiently develop and execute Incentive programs for the business.  This individual will leverage Field Sales Incentive Compensation experience and expertise to properly advise the business and key commercial stakeholders. Provide solutions to strategic needs within the business related to Incentive Compensation. Proactively communicate issues before they are identified by the field and provide information supporting solutions. Translate technical terminology into business speak when communicating to leadership and key stakeholders to ensure full understanding of the complexities to help support decision making. 

Performs all Company business in accordance with all regulations and Company policies and procedures. When violations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported to management. Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to main BI's excellent reputation within the community.

Successfully completes Compliance Modules assigned annually by the Company.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or Marketing
  • Seven to nine (7-9) years of progressive experience in an administrative, marketing, customer service and/or relevant business experience.
  • Extensive understanding of Sales and/or Incentive Compensation.
  • Experience in Animal Health is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates acceptable level of performance for all relevant competencies as defined in the On Track To Success Competency Model. History of successful performance.
  • Process oriented individual with strong problem solving skills.

    Eligibility Requirements

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
    • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
    • Must be 18 years of age or older
