The Supply Chain Internship Program is geared toward current college students who have a passion for their major and an interest in Consumers Energy and the energy industry. The Internship Program at Consumers Energy has core principles of skill development, ability enhancement, and knowledge application - experience designed to be complimentary to traditional classroom instruction.
What you will do:
Supply Chain Cooperative Assistants (Interns) of all levels will work as part of a larger team to provide hands-on support for various Supply Chain responsibilities within our business. Assignments could include the following:
- Assisting with procurement activities including data cleansing, data deep dives, metrics creation and maintenance, material contract bidding, negotiations and awards
- Supporting Supply Chain Operations within the Material Services/Logistics department
- Performing support functions and more complex tasks including establishing relative priorities of current anticipated workload, organizing and conducting assignments according to deadlines, tracking of information, maintaining logs/spreadsheets, and other similar support
- Under general direction, the Supply Chain Intern will prepare special or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, other areas of the company, etc.
- Periodically, the selected Intern may evaluate process and program effectiveness and take action to maintain continuous improvement
- The Supply Chain Intern will participate as an active team member by contributing to program development and organization planning, perform responsibilities in a manner that clearly shows effective communication and cooperation and that promotes open exchange of information, respect, high ethical standards and professionalism
- Interns are expected to follows all safety rules and procedures, and contribute to the safety of co-workers and the general public, maintain a clean and organized work space, and perform tasks supporting Material Services within multiple business operations areas, or split time as needed
