The Manager, Large Customer Solutions will lead the strategic development and execution of large-scale commercial and industrial natural gas projects. This individual will pursue opportunities in high-growth sectors, including data centers, advanced manufacturing and power generation. This role combines business development, relationship management and technical expertise to deliver projects that drive long-term growth and support sustainable growth at Southern Company Gas.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify, evaluate, and capitalize on market opportunities in target sectors – data centers, advanced manufacturing and power generation.
- Serve as the company’s primary commercial contact, adeptly managing deal terms, risk assessments and stakeholder expectations.
- Lead complex commercial negotiations including structuring long-term contracts and service agreements that align with customer needs and company objectives.
- Understand and monitor industry trends, regulatory developments and technological advancements to identify new growth opportunities.
- Monitor emerging technology trends and their applicability to meet the changing needs of large customers.
- Act as a trusted advisor to prospective clients, showcasing the value of natural gas solutions for their unique needs.
- Advocate for the use of natural gas as a clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy source within the evolving energy landscape.
- Collaborate legal and finance teams to draft engagement agreements ensuring clarity, compliance and mutual value.
- Partner with internal teams – engineering, regulatory, system planning, the project management organization, and system operations – to ensure project feasibility, profitability and timely delivery.
- Drive revenue and growth by securing long-term contracts with large commercial & industrial customers.
- Ensure alignment of projects with company profitability and sustainability goals.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or a related field
- 15+ years of experience in business development, commercial negotiations or leadership with the energy, utility or industrial sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in structuring and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
Preferred:
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Or
- Equivalent academic education and experience
Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.
