Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a Summer 2025 Materials & Processes (M&P) Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team at Lockheed Martin Allcomp, Skunk Works' Ultra High Temperature (UHT) materials factory and innovation enterprise located in Rosamond, CA. The team oversees a broad variety of materials engineering activities related to the development, prototyping, and production of high temperature materials such as carbon fibers/preforms and interface coatings, carbon/carbon and carbon/silicon carbide composites, as well as ceramic and refractory coatings.
In this role, you may support the team in the development of new products and processes, manufacture of prototypes to meet customer or strategic objectives, formulation and execution of test plans to substantiate technical requirements, assessment and qualification of outside material suppliers and processors, formalization of material and process specifications and associated production documents, review and compliance of parts and processes with engineering drawings, coordination of engineering activities with other functional teams, and direct support to production operations including development of resolutions to engineering nonconformances.
The successful candidate will have a firm grasp of material science fundamentals and experience with and/or academic knowledge of carbon, ceramic, composite, or other similar materials is a plus. Must be a U.S. Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Basic Qualifications:
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Material Science, Materials Chemistry, Ceramics Engineering, Composites Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar from an accredited college.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $20,904 - $61,672. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
