Lockheed Martin Space in Palo Alto, CA is seeking a Summer 2025 Intern for the Space Science and Instrumentation Team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, analysis, and testing of spacecraft instrumentation equipment for both internal research and development projects as well as program support. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts, and a demonstrated ability to conceptualize, develop, and implement solutions. Must be a US Citizen.
Basic Qualifications:
- Actively enrolled in a Bachelors or Graduate degree program from an accredited university or college majoring in mechanical, aeronautical/aerospace, or equivalent degree
- Basic knowledge of software utilized in the design/analysis of hardware (CAD - Computer Aided Design) and/or FEM - Finite Element Analysis, Thermal Desktop, or similar)
- Must be a US Citizen
Desired Skills:
- Basic application of mechanical and/or structural design in real-world/in-class applications.
- Basic knowledge of hardware applications in space environments.
- Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
- Research experience in astronomy or astrophysics
- Prior NASA internship or project experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Fluids and/or thermal design experience

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $20,904 - $61,672. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
