We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to perform stress and dynamic analysist of mechanisms for spacecraft at Lockheed Martin. These critical components include anything that moves on the satellite, including hinges, gimbals, motors, gears, dampers, rotary joints, linear actuators, and deployable artifacts.

The mechanisms stress & dynamics analysts support the mechanical design team for all lines of business at Lockheed Martin which means you could be analyzing mechanisms for the next mission to Mars or for the next generation of GPS satellites or for systems that protect and defend our nation.
In this role, you will:
* Analyze mechanisms, including requirements definition, perform trade studies, FE modeling and analysis, materials selection, and detailed strength analysis including stress, vibration and multibody dynamic analysis.
* Participate in issue resolution and develop solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical content and timely closure.
* Generate and release analysis reports.
* Be a member of multiple integrated product teams, reciprocally interacting with other engineers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and customers.
* Represent the organization in design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards.

Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering
* Ability to work in a reciprocal and team-based environment
* Experience with NX (Simcenter)/NASTRAN
* Knowledge of and applicable experience with spacecraft or aircraft structural analysis methods, including classical hand calculations and experience with mechanical joints
* Ability to apply new and advanced analytical techniques necessary to perform structural analysis.
* Knowledge of structural characteristics and the ability to generate free body diagrams detailing load paths through complex systems
* US citizenship is required
Desired Skills:
* A Master's degree is strongly preferred for this position
* Experience designing and/or analyzing aluminum honeycomb and laminate composite structures
* Ability to work in a collaborative and highly integrated team environment
* Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently
* Non-linear, fracture& fatigue, and buckling analysis experience
* Mechanisms, antenna, electronic component, ground support, hoisting, and test support equipment, and composite materials analysis experience
* Experience with NX Nastran, Matlab, Mathcad and CREO
* Static, vibration, modal, shock test experience of aerospace flight hardware

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $82,200 - $157,500. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
