Job Summary

Senior Manager, Risk Governance and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) plays a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the Combined US Operations ("CUSO") of Standard Chartered Bank. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive enterprise risk management framework that enables proactive risk identification and strategic decision-making. The Enterprise Risk Manager will collaborate with various departments to ensure a holistic approach to risk management that supports the CUSO. The responsibilities include:

  • Assists in designing and maintaining a robust risk management framework that integrates risk management into all aspects of the CUSO's activities and decision-making processes.
  • Supports the identification and assessment of risks across the CUSO, considering a wide range of areas including credit, markets, liquidity, operations technology, information and cyber-security, compliance, financial crime, ESG, and Models.
  • Develops and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks, working closely with relevant stakeholders to establish effective controls and action plans.
  • Creates and distributes regular risk assessment reports to senior leadership, providing insights into emerging and topical risks, risk trends, and the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborates with department heads and operational leaders to identify and address specific risks within their areas. Provides guidance and support in developing risk mitigation plans.
  • Authors reports for the Chief Risk Officer, Americas and the Head, Risk Governance and ERM, Americas by researching and aggregating the necessary information.
  • Supports the committee governance process including inviting and reviewing papers, administering the meetings, preparing minutes, and tracking items to closure.
  • Collaborates with the Compliance team and other relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment between risk management and compliance efforts.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the Head, Risk Governance and ERM, Americas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management and execution of strategic projects and papers on behalf of the CRO, Americas and Head, Risk Governance ERM
  • Play a supporting role in management and regulatory risk information reporting on behalf of the Americas Risk function.
  • Provide project management support for initiatives driven by the local or Group risk function
  • Represent the Americas risk function and demonstrate active membership for regional or country projects
  • Demonstrate awareness and understanding of regulations and Group policies relevant to the Americas risk function
  • Preparing regular and ad-hoc reports for the various Group and Americas risk committees, senior risk management and senior Americas management
  • Coordinate presentation of risk information for internal and external presentations
  • Track and monitor regulatory requirements and examinations to ensure these are communicated at risk committees, as required.
  • Ensure that the processes in the ERM and Risk Governance function are well documented though Desk Operating Instructions.
  • Ensure that policies, standards, and DoIs for Risk Governance and ERM are adhered to.
  • Identify any gaps or risks in the processes executed within the role and help formulate the approach to addressing them.

Qualifications

-Bachelor's Degree Preferred

- 5+ years of experience in Risk Governance in a comparable organization

Expected annual base pay range for the role is 136,221 USD to 204,332 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location. At Standard Chartered Bank, Base pay is only part of the total compensation package.
