Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Staff Guidance and Control Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA or El Segundo, CA.
The candidate will perform Guidance and Control (G&C) Lead roles and responsibilities for Advanced Design on Autonomous Vehicles.
Essential Functions:
• Lead a team of G&C engineers in development of Control laws, modeling and simulation, and analysis on autonomous vehicles.
• Non-linear 6DOF Simulation analysis (including stress testing, trade studies, mission analysis, etc)
• Linear MATLAB analysis (gain/phase margin determination, gain/filter determination, etc)
• Embedded flight control software design/code/test
• Supporting flight testing (pre-flight predictions, real-time support, post flight analysis, parameter identification, etc).
• He/she will serve as technical spokesman with program management, including preparation and presentation of technical briefings.
• He/she may be called upon to support proposal preparation efforts and new project activities, including responsibility for project technical aspects, cost, schedule, and reviews.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with at least 12 years of experience in engineering, or a Master's Degree in STEM with at least 10 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with at least 7 years of engineering experience.
• Must have ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance prior to the commencement of employment
• Experience in leading a team or mentoring junior engineers
Preferred Qualifications:
• An active DoD Secret clearance or higher with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
• Candidate must have excellent communication, analysis and problem-solving skills and be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Experience with Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
• Knowledge of Matlab, C/C++, Java, Python
• Knowledgeable in the area of flight sciences, control law development, and control system analysis.
Salary Range: $171,000 - $256,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
